La Más Rica Restaurant

Begoña Soto

La Mas Rica is a hospitality project focused on the refurbishment and rebranding of a restaurant. It involves transforming an old, small wholesale shop into a new bar and restaurant, located in one of the chicest neighbourhoods in Madrid, Chamberí. The primary aim of this project is to establish a new dining venue that is open to the city, fostering a space for dialogue, social interaction, and enjoyment of the area's rich cultural offerings.
This project focused on the study of light, materials, and spatial configuration. The result is an exciting and comfortable ambience that stands out in contrast to its modest exterior. This juxtaposition highlights the project's role as a "lighthouse" in the community—a beacon that brightens the bustling streets and serves as a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
One of the main design elements that stands out is the innovative use of lighting and decor orientation. Rope drapes hang elegantly from the ceiling and walls, creating a captivating play of shadow and light that adds depth and dimension to the space. Each area of the building is unique, offering distinctive environments while maintaining a cohesive visual identity through consistent branding details.
The metal entrance doors connect the terrace to the exterior, leading to the main space, structured around a large, curved terrazzo bar that extends to form the first flight of stairs ascending to the more private areas. The curved windows allow the opening of semicircular tables on the facade, emphasizing the relationship between the bar and its customers in the neighbourhood.
In essence, the La Mas Rica project is a thoughtfully designed space that enhances the urban fabric of Chamberí, offering a unique dining experience that blends modernity with community spirit.
