The new ARTEM campus - the first of its kind in France - brings together 5,000 students in the arts, engineering and management as part of an interdisciplinary curriculum. ARTEM resulted from the merger of three major institutions : the ICN Business School, the Nancy Engineering School (Ecole des Mines) and the Nancy School of Art and Design. The L+R-designed third tranche of the project, like the other two sections, connects to a covered arcade, parallel to the street, that consolidates the flow of pedestrian traffic; its stained-glass façade is the signature element of the campus. The ISAM-IAE school of management and ICN business school, laid out together in a patio-encircling quadrangle and sporting a distinctive coloured signhouse, accommodate three shared lecture halls. The media library, centrally located on the campus, is cantilevered across the park, an outdoor space available to the entire student population. The student residence sits adjacent to the university dining hall in the park.
