The "Am Wildbachberg" holiday retreat contains three houses, which were named Rosa, Franz and Sepp. These three serve as slowing down and quiet hideaways for overnight stays in south-west Styria. Each of the houses is designed as an independent building but all three accommodations can function together or individually. It was very important to embed tradition and authenticity into the overall concept. In this case, it is a revitalisation and at the same time a new use of the existing buildings. The focus was on gently embedding the three buildings Rosa, Franz and Sepp into the landscape. The existing structures of the main house Franz and the former barn building Rosa were completed by a troad box Sepp as the third building. They surround the central communal square in the south, which includes a pool and several terraces integrated into the landscape. In terms of the architectural design, it was important that the overall ensemble had a harmonised appearance. This was achieved by using a traditional and clear design language while preserving the individuality of the single houses, which were modernised to contemporary standards. The perforated and partially movable façade elements offer plenty of views in the landscape while protecting the interior from outside views. At the same time, they create special privacy and a unique atmosphere through direct and indirect lighting. The use of existing buildings and old wood for the new building, the additions in timber construction with wooden façades, the supplementation of the existing stone masonry, the green roofs, the reuse of the old tile roofing and the use of old building materials can be considered as ecological. The entire complex, including the 300-year-old wine cellar, will be available for rent to a wider public. It was also very important that regional companies were involved.
